Hi there! Thanks for stopping by for my annual Christmas home tour. This year I'm posting it a whopping 2 weeks before Christmas which makes me so happy. Usually I'm rushing to post it just days before Christmas.
Part 1 is my formal living room and dining room and features my "fancy" tree. One of my boys named it "mom's fancy tree" a few years back. The "kid's tree" is in our family room where the boys have free reign of decorating the tree. (and mommy has to work very hard at not rearranging things while they are not looking ;)
While we don't use these room much they are in no way off-limits to the kids. It's just not where our fam hangs out. Our space is the kitchen and family room. Even though we don't use our formal living and dining room much I love to have them because they are always clean and in the front of the house. So if unexpected guests pop in and my kitchen is a mess I can try and corral them in the living room so they won't have to see my dirty dishes and floor covered in Lucky Charms cereal (but never the marshmallows, they are too valuable and my kids never drop them, only the less delicious "oat cereal" pieces which end up everywhere. Does that happen at your house??)
My fancy tree (that sounds so ridiculous) features leopard print ribbon, mercury glass, silver, gold and bronze ornaments, beads, etc. I've been doing the leopard print tree for a couple years and it worked really great with my old living room decor. I recently made a few changes and replaced most of the brown with gray (see it here) and I was worried that it wouldn't work. Just by switching out a few of my gray pillows I was able to pull the tree and the gray in the room together. Hooray!
These gray pillows with gold accents saved the day. :) The one in front is gray sweater material that is accented with just a little gold, it's really soft looking and the photo doesn't do it justice... I just love it!
My Joy to the World pillow is a rare Pottery Barn buy, it was from last season and pretty cheap by Pottery Barn standards.
These fun NOEL letters are Christmas tree ornaments, I thought they'd get lost in my tree so I used them here.
They have lots of detail wrapped in music paper, wire "ribbon" and big pieces of glitter at the top.
Speaking of ornaments, here are a few of my faves...
Adding greenery everywhere is an easy way to decorate. I used stuff I already had for my coffee table and stuck some greenery in it. Instant Christmas!
My living room is attached to my dining room so my Christmas decor flows right in...
Please don't put your butt on my joy. ;)
These little metal deer are some of my favorite decorations. They were cheap at TJ Maxx and also found at Pottery Barn for about 4 times the TJ's price.
Bambi on the wall needed some Christmas earrings of course.
Bambi's friend over here on the coffee table gets no earrings, just a bed of greenery.
My entryway is also open to my living and dining room so I spruced up the entry table too with similar colors too.
I paid next to nothing for my Santa bust which was 95% off. When I look closely at him, I feel like he looks a little tipsy. He has drunk eyes... check them out. Maybe that's why he was so cheap? Oh well, it's not really noticeable unless you look really closely.
