 Deepavali and the days leading to them were frenzy at home,cleaning,shining and polishing.There wasn't anything in particular i wanted to buy except the flowers.

Marigolds as usual took the centre stage.It was  sheer beauty and happiness to see the golden orange marigolds shining in all corners on the day of Deepavali.

Kantha bedspreads became table spreads and dull oranges went well with the carnations.Dull golds made another excellent combination on the table and the napkins were small rectangular cloths with golden border.The cheer of the Yellows of the gerberas and the fragrance from the incense holder on the day of dhanteras is still in spirits..Hope all of you enjoyed this year and as the saying goes,the wait for the next year starts!

I really don't know why courtyards fascinated me from childhood and they still..These fascination lead me to a point when I plan my home now,incorporating these spaces at many levels,rooms less and these spaces more..Many thanks to all the great architects who have influenced me like Geoffrey Bawa,Bill Bensley,Laurie Baker,Revathi Kamath .Those amazing spaces have influenced my life in many ways.The dream of starting a decor blog started with the love of courtyards.The Mangalore tiled roofs ,the rain that flowed into the courtyards,the light and shades,the light that fell into the room at various times of the day... I can say so much ,they interest me in various levels and I have seen many a courtyards till now.I have travelled so much in search of courtyards and their spaces 

When Savitha Karthik of Deccan Herald contacted me for an article about the courtyards,I readily agreed.I had researched much about the courtyards and had enough images in hand.As written in the article,courtyards are getting revived these days by architects and they are finding ways to incorporate these spaces and giving different meanings to it at different levels...

Wishing a very Happy New Year!

                    Wishing all my readers a fabulous New Year and a Wonderful year ahead.

I have lots and lots and lots of stories and gorgeous pictures to share with you all.I kept on thinking ,i will blog it when i get enough and ample time to think and weave a story out of it and never ever got the time,and sometimes thought let the blog site be revamped ,a new look that's needed here,a New Year and never did i get enough time to do all these things in a row.Some among the wonderful trips that we made last year were to the Shekhawati region,in Rajasthan and then another to the lovely state of Gujarat,where we thought within our timeline we would cover Kutch also,but alas the time was not enough and we perched on to see the entire Ahmedabad in its glory..When searching through the pictures,it becomes immensely diffcult due to the zillion images taken during these trips.But I have troubled myself and searched the better among them and here I am in this month sharing the travel pictures and stories each day..Hope you will enjoy them immensley..

antique containers and floral display

Bronze antique containers are an essential part of decor display. The correct choice will enhance the aesthetics .A beautiful floral display in a style and colour that blends with the decor will make any room more attractive.Although almost anything that holds water can be used as a vase for a floral display, the choice of container is only second to the choice of flowers. It is important that the container blends with the decor of the room in size, style and colour.Bronze containers can be used as flower holders for special occassions.Heirloom pieces or reproductions are ideal for arrangements in a traditional style.Having a collection of containers on hand to choose from has always made my job easier for flower displays.These can be assorted and kept in a corner also for better display.

My travels down south,home has always helped me in collecting old brass containers. Some of them are very old and has come from my mom's collections ,which were actually my grandpa's.I have managed to bring in small pieces of them to Delhi,while the bigger and better ones are at home.

I have tried capturing images which display the best moods at home.My home is filled with flowers all the time an these bronze containers are always filled with a stem or a flower and has helped me to bring my memories down south into my interiors in Delhi..Hope you will love all the images...
