It only took us a year so it is definitely worth celebrating. I'm working on my big reveal post and I'm super excited. I'm planning on posting it Friday evening. Today was one of the most depressing days of the year around here.
De-Christmasfication.
Waa- waaa.
I know, I have such big problems, right?
I hate taking down my Christmas decorations.
I would leave them up much longer but my minimalist hubby starts to twitch when the Christmas decor is left up much longer than New Year's Day.
It is sorta nice once it's down and put away though, the house feels very open and spacious. Kinda even like a blank canvas... my wheels start spinning thinking what shall I do next?? That's the part I like... that fresh start, clean slate sorta feeling once it's all put away.
Right now I'm in the trenches of half filled bins all over, fake pine needles on just about every surface in my house and playing that game of "Does this greenery look wintery or Christmasey?"
I hate that game.
Because really, winter is just starting to throw down around here so winter decorations are completely appropriate. But, when I play that game Christmas almost always wins and I end up stashing all the greenery even when I know it could easily pass for winter.
Oh well, I'm just thankful that taking down Christmas decor is my biggest "problem" because it's really not a problem at all. :)

Before we start partying I wanted to invite my fellow bloggers or those of you thinking about starting a blog of your own to better your blog (or start a blog) with me through a book study starting in mid-January.
We'll be reading 31 Days to Build a Better Blog by Darren Rowse of ProBlogger. Darren Rowse of ProBlogger is the guru of blogging and I have heard tons of big name bloggers raving about him and his books, especially 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. I'm so excited to read it and plan to start it after the holidays when things slow down.
I'm planning to do a "book club/book study" of sorts starting in mid-January (after the kiddies go back to school) where we can read the book together and meet on Facebook group chat once or twice a week to discuss what we're learning from this book and ask questions. Hey there! Can you believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away?!
Crazy!!
This week I got some January issues of some of my magazines... whenever they arrive I always think it's a little depressing. It's like, aww man... the end of the most wonderful time of the year is coming. Wah, Waah. I get so excited to get the Christmas issues and I read those back before Thanksgiving.
Oh well. Let's enjoy the season while we've still got it. I can't wait to see all of your Christmas and Holiday link ups! Of course you can link up whatever you want so no worries if you're not doing the Christmas thing this week.

Happy Thanksgiving, party animals! I guess this will be the first official Christmas season post as this is the Black Friday Flaunt it Friday. Yeah for Christmas! :)
But, before we start partying do you want to hear my very sad Thanksgiving story?
I knew you would.
We didn't celebrate Thanksgiving this year. Yeah, it was that bad of a Thanksgiving.
We had to stay home for Thanksgiving because my whole family is sick. Half of us have an awful cold and half of us have the stomach flu. This is a great combination. I'm sure we will all switch at some point although I am washing my hands to the point of bleeding to keep the stomach flu at bay.
Yesterday we realized we should stay home from our families big Thanksgiving celebration so that we wouldn't risk infecting our entire extended family. Mr. Chic went to the grocery and planned on making a special meal for us so we could celebrate here (isn't he so sweet?!) Unfortunately, Mr. Chic got hit with the "throwed-ups" (as my little one calls it), this afternoon. :(
Ugh. I'm thinking this our worst Thanksgiving ever.
BUT, I have so much to be thankful for and I'm not trying to have a pity party for myself. (maybe just a little teeny tiny bit, because Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year and I missed it... woe is me...)
But really, I got to spend the day with my family and I'm so thankful for them and that we are all healthy (except when we get annoying little bugs like we have right now, but we'll get better). I know that things could be much worse.
My mom just called to tell me she's going to bring by some leftovers (thanks, mom!!) so I won't miss my favorite meal after all. I'm going to sit on the couch (I'm eating in a "no food allowed room" Shhh, don't tell!!) and eat by myself while watching Million Dollar Decorators (the show I love to hate!) that I recorded the other night. That actually doesn't sound all that bad.
Plus, I'm hosting a party. Now that doesn't sound bad at all.

Today I put away all of my pumpkins and fall stuff, what a buzz kill that was. Knowing that I could get started on my Christmas decor once the hundred-million pumpkins were gone was great motivation. I am super excited to put up my Christmas stuff and now I can get started! Hooray!

Can you believe it's November 1st?!
I hate to break it to you because I know it doesn't seem quite possible to be that time of year already but... Christmas... Yes I said it, Christmas is going to start blowing up all over blogland any minute.
Any minute!!

Wow..... I'm a little bit in shock.
Now that it's November it's free game. So wrap your minds around that for a few minutes...

Hey party people! Thanks for coming over to my place to party week after week. I always look forward to checking out all of the good stuff you link up. Lately, blogger has not been allowing me to leave comments on other blogger blogs. It is super annoying because it happens after I type up my nice little comment and hit post comment... then it disappears- Poof! I have the box that keeps you logged in all the time unchecked as I heard that could fix the problem but no luck. Any advice for me? I hate to not be able to comment, I feel like such a loser party host.

Happy Fall Ya'll!!
Fall is my favorite season and I absolutely love everything pumpkin-esque! It's a great time for a special Fall themed link up party!

Hey there! Can you believe that September is almost over?! I think I say that at the end of every month but jeez, time just flies!
Don't forget, this Sunday is the 2nd annual Flaunt your Fall (and Halloween) link party. I will post Saturday night at 7:30 central time. I can't wait!!
Last week I showed you my easy burlap wreath, I'm still working on my tutorial, I got a different kind of burlap ribbon this time and it did not work at all! Back to the craft store I go...

Hey there!
Before we party I have some serious stuff to talk about.
Lame.
Who starts a party with serious stuff?
Bad idea... but it will be quick!
I'm sure you've heard around blogland that content is being stolen from blogs and being used on other blogs without permission of the original blogger. Not only is the original blogger not being asked if their work can be used but they are not even being credited for the post. These blog thieves, "scrapper blogs" as their known, steal the blog post and then pass it off as their own! Some are stealing entire link party posts (Flaunt it Friday anyone?) and putting them up on their sites.
The nerve of these thieves!!
I can't send you to any scrapper sites because that would just increase their traffic so they could make more money off their stolen posts. I saw one on Facebook that was in Spanish, their page had over one million "likes".
Over one million!!
Seriously!
And they are stealing articles from hardworking and creative bloggers like you and me.
LOOOO-SERRRRS!
They are totally fired!!
But it's unfortunately not as easy as just telling them they're fired losers. It's actually quite difficult to get them to remove your stolen post. Especially if they don't speak English.
One of the ways to stop the thieves is to truncate your post. This means putting a break in your post and RSS feed so that only part of a blog post shows and the reader has to click on a link that says something like "click here to read the rest of this post".
Many of the most popular blogs already do this. I find it to be annoying to have to click again but really, what's one more click in the scheme of things. If you're on the computer you're clicking like 500 times a day anyway, right?
So, I'm going to start truncating to protect my posts and hope like crazy my lovely readers won't stop reading or linking up because of that extra little click. It's really not that big of a deal but if it will keep you from reading my blog, please let me know. I don't want to lose any of my sweet Chicsters!

Hello Chic-sters! It's already time for my party again! Wow, the week flew by and I had high hopes for so many things I was going to share with you. Mr. Chic was gone on business and before he left I had this fantasy that I'd have so much free time on my hands when the boys went to bed that I could blog and blog and blog and stock pile all of these great posts, I'd be ahead of the game (for once). But instead, I was so exhausted by bedtime that I only got one post done in a week and I posted it already. So much for getting ahead of the game.
I did manage to choose a color (finally!) and paint our master bathroom. It's not finished because Mr. Chic is going to have to help me with the vaulted ceiling area but I made some progress at least. I'll be sharing that makeover sooner than later hopefully (the way things are going it could be 2013) ;)
