A beautiful home office

Wouldn't it make Mondays a little easier?  I sure think so!

This is my type of space...a desk with a lot of surface space, and gorgeous natural light!

A desk you really love is important. And if you can't contain yourself to a mood board, why not try a mood wall?!

I would never pick that wallpaper, and I do not like zebra rugs, but all of these elements together are so pretty.

Brick wall and an unashamedly girly bed? Love it.

Book Review: House Proud by Valorie Hart

House Proud: Unique Home Design, Louisiana is like a tour of some of the state's coolest, chicest homes.

A more articulate summary can be found at Amazon, where you can purchase the book:

"Experience the joy of decor and design, restoration and rebirth, color and comfort - all in the enchanting locale of Louisiana. A New Orleans-based interior designer, Valorie Hart expertly leads a private tour of the most fashionable homes in the state. Sara Essex Bradley's photographs document the personality of Louisiana's homes, from the formal Greek revival house to the warm Creole cottage, the pre-Civil war beauty to the kitschy 50s-style ranch, the grand Victorian to the modern urban loft. This is not simply a design inspiration book, but rather a thoughtful compilation of homeowners' personal stories of restoring and redesigning their dream houses - the stories of the "house-proud."

Here are some of my favorite photos, by Sara Essex Bradley.  I think her photography style was a perfect match for this project.

I LOVE this living room. The ceiling to floor hallway/art gallery, the fawn inspired rug, and the picture hung over the bookcase. I don't know why - I'm just a sucker for that.

The cypress ceilings are original to this home.  And check out the checkered floors.  Drool.

All in all, this book is a glamorous tribute to Louisiana homes, and even if you've never been, there's plenty of eye candy to be appreciated!

Stunning Spaces

Every Monday morning needs a little eye candy and inspiration! This morning I was searching for some new furniture designs and couldn't keep my eyes away from some of these gorgeous spaces. Each one has something I would love to have in it!

I love a room that can entertain! The way they created multiple seating spaces in this room still keeps the extra large feel but makes it very homey. The rug also helps separate the room a little bit without taking away from those gorgeous floors.

The wallpaper in this room modestly luxe. I love the way it is just a hint of color so it doesn't distract too much from the rest of the room but it gives it that something extra. I also love the dark furniture to give it some contrast.

Picking out great furniture for your room ins't always easy but in this room above it looks well thought out, but not like it's trying too hard. I love the mix and match quality of it but it still looks put together really well.
fabulous!! stunning room. floor/fireplace/cornicing etc etc

The walls in this room are amazing! I absolutely love the historical touches and how the furniture doesn't take away from it at all! They stuck with the same three colors throughout and it looks amazing.

The room above is gorgeous! I love the neutrals and the elegant layout but my absolute favorite part of this room is the subtle color they brought in with the rug and bedding! This is a fantastic way to add a little color in a room as well as a pattern!

A truly heavenly kitchen

I'm pretty happy with the kitchen in our new home.  It is definitely a huge upgrade from anything I've had before.  Ideally I'd like to refinish the light maple colored cabinets in white, knockout one one to open it into the living room, and maybe even swap out the tile for hardwood.  For now though, it will do, and I'll get my fix by perusing amazing kitchens like the one below.

The brick comes from demolished buildings in Chicago, and the steel hood is custom.

I'm in love with the walnut floors! They gray/green cabinets are elegant, but I think I still might have gone with white.

What do you think of these glass pendants?  What do you think about the whole kitchen?

A Crisp White Home That Still Has Historic Charm

This Sag Harbor home caught my eye recently. It's at times a bit rustic for my tastes, but I think the balance of clean and modern, and respecting the homes historic charms - like exposed beams, is perfect.

In love with that rug!

Black floors in white rooms are really starting to grow on me.

The dining room is the only one that sticks out to me a little.  I would love to see a few sleeker elements brought in to counteract with the more rustic ones.

The tiny gray tiles on the floor are so pretty

As some of you know, we just bought a home and I will have my first true home office. Not in the dining room, or the nook of the bedroom, a whole separate room!

Here are some office spaces I really like:
