Adding the finishing touches to our newly renovated space

FREE IMAGES Our house is almost done. so close.... and baby is due in 3 weeks.  Hubby has been working tirelessly for four months now to make our house our home.  I don't even begin to know how to thank him!  And now the fun part begins - decorating! While we do have many pieces we are going to keep, there are some things we need.  I've been scouring flash sale sites to try and get good stuff at a good price, but you have to check often and move fast - which can be tough if you're undecided.  Here's what I've found today that would look gorgeous in our space:

Now that we have a breakfast bar - we need stools.  These would be a great contrast to our white upholstered dining chairs.

We just bought a gorgeous silvery taupe sectional, and this color would be so great with it!

Two large baskets are needed by both doors for shoes.  We don't have room for any entry way furniture like a shoe cabinet, and I will never train hubby to put his shoes in the closet.

Bring In Some Orange

Bring on the Spring - pretty up your rooms with spring hues

FREE IMAGES I am so excited for spring flowers and bright colors that are going to fill our outdoor space so I thought I'd do a post about bringing that color in and enjoying indoors as well!  Just last night sweetums brought me the most beautiful pale pink roses.  Having them on my desk makes the room feel so much lighter...

Using hints of color in a room make me happy. Especially when those items are so easy to change out like pillows, curtains, and decor you have around the house like books and frames.  I've been loving gold and pink lately.

If you are loving the room you have now and don't feel like changing it but you want to tie in some of your favorite flowers, getting one simple throw pillow that pulls out similar colors can do the trick!

If you want to go bolder, find some wallpaper or upholstery with a floral print/pattern. Anthropologie usually has some unique upholstered items. If you struggle getting real flowers into your home, adding a flower pattern might give you what you need for that spring feeling indoors. I'd love to have one of these in my office!

Most often we forget about livening up our bedrooms since all we tend to is sleep in here, but bringing some fresh flowers in and updating your bedding can really bring you into the season.

Inspiration for your outdoor space (if Spring ever gets here!)

FREE IMAGES We are officially four days into spring, and even though we've barely felt the warm temperatures around here, I can't help but daydream of what I would love to be doing to our outdoor space! We moved into our home last year mid summer and didn't really get a chance to enjoy spring. Here's some inspiration I've found that I'd love to incorporate in my outdoor area:

Preparing your home for Fall

FREE IMAGES It's almost that time of year again! As much as I like fall, I'm sad that before we know it summer will be over. For some reason it didn't really feel like summer much this year. I know I'm probably alone in this, but I love heat and even humidity. With the odd weather on the east coast we only got short spurts of heat. The stores are slowly switching over to fall items and I thought I'd share some of the things I'm eyeing for a fall transition in our home!

Personally I don't consider summer over until the end of September. So I'll be waiting until then to implement some of these changes, but based on where you are you may be able to get started sooner.

Candles. Make a candle vignette for your dining room table.  Light them every night at dinner.  Have fun picking out some candles and holders you really love and love looking at every evening.  Unscented is best.  I place mine on a mirrored tray for added light.

Throws.  Nothing says comfy to me like a chunky wool or FAUX fur throw.

Textured pillows.  You don't really want to pile up the fuzzy pillows during summer, but fall is a great time to start putting out your textured pillows.  I've been wanting a mongolian lamb pillow for a while now.

Books Grab some books to curl up to! A Place Called Home is going to be released in  October and I think it's going to be a coffee table keepsake!  I love having some inspiration at my fingertips and curling up on the couch while sweetums watches TV.

Tom Scheerer Decorates is an absolute feast for the eyes.  I didn't want it to end and will be pouring over it often this fall and winter.  I'll be sharing more from it later.

Had this vase been a hard edge crystal, it would add to the formal feeling of the space.  I like the organic, rustic glass vase - it adds a more relaxed feel.
