Simple Ways to Spruce Up for Fall

Monday, October 20, 2014

Changing decorations out for seasons is an easy way to bring the outdoors in, but sometimes it's not the most convenient. For starters, storing all these decorations can be a bit overwhelming and frustrating. Spending a huge budget on changing decor isn't always ideal either. Here's a happy balance of both that can get you on the right track!

Fall Home Decor | TameraMowry.com. Cozy flax linen pillow back contemporary arms makes this a transitional sofa couch.

Blankets and candles are things almost all homeowners have around the house. Placing them in the right spot can really change up the decor and bring some fall loveliness in! Since these are also things that are already have around the house, you won't need to find extra storage options for them later.

It's amazing what a tray of white pumpkins can do! Trays are so versatile and can be used year round in different locations, and pumpkins - although they aren't always cheap - aren't something you'll have to worry about storing!

Empty frames, burlap, a great jar, some old books, and that touch of outdoor fall really gives this mantel a great look. These are things you  might be able to find laying round the house that you can pick up! If you aren't interested in using pumpkins, you can always find acorns or pine cones to take their place. Using things you already have is a great budget option.

Here's another option for things lying around the house or outside that you might find as a great budget friendly home decor option!

I'm so excited to show off some of Global View's High Point Market's preview's today! Their furniture trends are always on point and this season's preview isn't any different.

They are going with the color theme Copper, Ink, and Camel which I think is so fitting for fall and winter this year. Check out some of the amazing things they are offering:

Absolutely love this set up, there are so many pieces here I'd easily take home with me if I could!

For one this lamp is gorgeous! I love how simple it is and could go in any room but it's glamorous enough to shine!

These colors just coordinate so well together!

These vases would be perfect for so many rooms in my house. A touch of gold is an amazing way to brighten up a room.

Don't be afraid to go bold either!

Dusting Off The Dining Room Table

As the cooler weather is settling in and fall brings us indoors, I can't help but think of all the holiday events and dinner parties that are coming soon! In preparation I am dusting off the dining room table and finding some inspiration to make it shine this year:

Keep in mind that changing out your dining room doesn't have to be a pricey event. A few candles, a cheap centerpiece, and maybe a few stunning seat covers can really change the ambiance of a room.

Another option might be some fresh flowers and throw pillows to add a little color and life!

Even just changing out the lighting can really make a room stand out. This chandelier screams for attention!

Have some fun with it!

Beautiful Autumn Updates

Sad as it makes me, summer is on it's way out. Though I like autumn, it's the knowledge that winter is right behind that bums me out. One way to make goodbyes to summer a little less painful is to update your home with some elements to make the time spent indoors more pleasant.

Burlap Fall Mantle

Hey there!  How are you on this lovely fall weekend?  I am doing great.  I did absolutely nothing this Saturday but hang out in my favorite hoody sweatshirt cuddled up on the couch with my boys.  Isn't it nice to just have a lazy day sometimes...

The boys were choosing the tv shows, lately they've been filling up our DVR with reruns of America's Funniest Home Videos.  Instead of deleting them after they watch them, they will actually watch the same ones over and over again and laugh hysterically even though they've already seen it.  It cracks me up to hear them belly laughing at this silly show so I don't mind.

I'll let you in on a little secret... now don't tell my boys but Mommy doesn't think the show is all that funny  (how many times can you watch someone get hit in the groin by a 3 year old with a plastic baseball bat, seriously) so Mommy spent a lot of time staring at the fireplace enjoying her fall mantle. ;)

Anyway, I kept my mantle pretty simple this year, burlap ended up being the theme although I didn't plan it that way.

Pumpkinlicious Mercury Glass

Hey there!  How are you on this beautiful fall day?

I'm so excited that it's finally starting to feel like fall around here... brisk evenings and sunny beautiful days that are perfect, not too hot or too cold.  Too bad fall weather didn't last all year round, at least not here in the Midwest.

But that's part of the reason it's so special.

With the arrival of some fall weather I finally got my fall decorating mojo back and put out some of my pumpkinlicious decor.  I just coined the turned pumpkinlicious, awesome... yes?

Fall Decorating Mojo

Monday, September 3, 2012

FREE IMAGES
Hey there friends!  I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.  Around here we took it easy and relaxed.  I finished up painting our master bathroom (finally! more on that in the upcoming weeks) and I managed to talk Mr. Chic into helping me drag my fall decor bins out of the basement too.  I have been very excited to get out my fall decor but once I got it all out of the bins I kinda lost my decorating mojo.

Switching out seasonal decor is fun but also means I've gotta put away last seasons stuff and do annoying housekeeping things like dusting everything and peeling transformer stickers off my console table.

I removed stickers and dusted to get everything ready for my fall goodies.  I got one vignette finished and a couple of wreaths up but still much more to do.

My kitchen island was taken over by pumpkins and other fall paraphernalia for most of the day.  Even though I was cleaning it was such a mess!

I'm switching things around a bit this year so I'm trying different things here and there to find just the right look.  This is fun but slows down the process if you are ridiculously picky about insignificant things like pumpkin decorations like me.

I finished today with a look I like to call the "pumpkin explosion" where I dumped everything on the dining room table because I was too tired to finish up.  I'll be back at it tomorrow and will hopefully get my mojo back. :)

Do you have your Fall decorating mojo yet?

Thanksgiving Decor... and I'm not talkin' turkey

Well, hello there friends!

Don't you think Thanksgiving is getting to be the "forgotten holiday"?

We go straight from Halloween to Christmas.  The stores and big companies are the worst.  I actually saw a Christmas commercial 4 days before Halloween... can you believe that?!  Sadly, I'm sure you can.

Some stores have had Christmas stuff out for months (mostly the crafty types like Hobby Lobby- in JULY!! wow).  But many others get it out before Halloween if they have room (Wal-Mart).

I am going to get my Christmas stuff out a little earlier than usual just so we can enjoy it (and because it's a lot of work!) but not quite yet.

First, I'm going to share the rest of my Fall Thanksgiving decor that will be staying up at least a little longer.

I love pumpkins on pedestals

The Fall Thanksgiving decor in my living room...

Another touch of Fall Thanksgiving in our entryway.

The large apothecary jar has an old fall swag stuck in it which helps it to fill the jar without using a million leaves.  I sort of twisted it around the jar from the bottom up.

The little jar has mini-pumpkins purchased last year after the season for 90% off, I got two small packages for less than $1.50.

Our dining room has this little pumpkin on the buffet.  Sticking a pumpkin on a ring of faux berries (either made from a swag or a candle ring) does wonders for a pumpkin! :)

Finally, I took the black birds off my Halloween mantel so that it can become just a Fall Thanksgiving mantel... easy peasy.

Do you decorate for Thanksgiving or do you just go straight to Christmas after Halloween??

Budget Friendly Fall Mantel

Happy Fall y'all!!  (that's the one time a year that I say y'all)

My favorite season is officially upon us and here in the Midwest we are having some lovely cool fall weather!  This makes me SO happy as sometimes summer stays around too long and we go to the pumpkin patch and sweat (sweat = not fun).  It's also hard to be motivated to decorate for fall when you are sweating.

Anywhooo, this year I did a budget-friendly Fall mantel.  I haven't done a Fall mantel in a while (last year only did Halloween).  I had to come up with something from scratch because I didn't want to pay full price on fall decorations (it's against my religion ;).

I luckily picked up this great gourd filled swag for 90% off after the season at Hob Lob last year.  $6 bucks!  (Major score like my fall wreath you can see HERE)

I used a bunch of candle stick holders that I already have and picked up some gourds and mini pumpkins for .25 cents each at our local Farmer's Market.  (I heart our Farmer's Market!  I love the fresh finds and supporting our local farmers plus, the same gourds at the grocery were $5.99 for a bag, about $1 a piece!)

I like the long, spindly stems, gives them character. :)

I left up my black vase 'o sticks to give it some more height and I added my first attempt at a coffee filter wreath to finish it off.

So there you have it, a new fall mantel for about $7.25 (and $6 of it was spent last year!)

What are your thrifty fall finds??
